I know I’ve shared this before, but I started SYTYC as a way to distract myself from the depression I was suffering after my first miscarriage. Abi was a baby that loved her sleep and did it all the time so I had hours to just sit and dwell. I discovered this crazy DIY world online and it changed my life.
In August of 2009 I was brand new to the blogging world and only knew of about 12 DIY blogs at the time. But, in a move VERY uncharacteristic of myself, I decided to email them all and pitch this crazy idea. I was shocked when 10 were happy and excited to jump on board! Never in my wildest dreams would I have thought it would grow like it has. In the past (almost) 4 years I have meet over 150 crazy talented ladies and been able to share their talent with all of you in a fun unique way (if I do say so myself ). It has been a soul saving, super fun and just plain amazing time.
But lately I have had too many things on my plate and wasn’t allocating my time the best way for me and my family. I had to make a very very difficult decision about how to fix that. So a few months ago I made the announcement that I would be selling So You Think You’re Crafty. It was time for me to pass on the reins of SYTYC to someone else.
Well, I found that “someone.” And I’m sure a lot of you are already familiar with her.
That’s right, Tauni of SNAP! Creativity fame will be running the show from here on out.
I first meet Tauni in an elevator at the JFK airport. We had just arrived in NYC to attend the 2010 BlogHer conference. It was my first blogging event and I had made the trip alone. I was totally out of my element, but there was Tauni. She gave me tips and introduced me to a few people that weekend that I had admired from afar and still keep in contact with. She probably doesn’t even remember all that, but I do. Since then we’ve meet up at a few other events and she is always one of my first go to’s when I have a question for the experts. So you are in very fun, happy, creative and capable hands!
I’ll still be around the blogging world and would love for you to stay in touch with me. You can find me over at my blog/shop MissyDear. It’s been kind of quiet for the last little bit as I got all the loose ends for this transition tied up, but things will be picking up quick now. I’ve even got a bunch of fun posts lined up and ready to go. And even better, it’s in the process of getting a whole new look with help from Melissa Esplin! I honestly just got the logo back last night. Isn’t it great? I’m excited to get the new look up on the site.
