Interview with Kim @ Bugaboo, Mini Mr & Me

1.Tell us a little about you and your blog.
I’m a former wannabe actress turned wifey and mama. I started my blog in an attempt to recapture my passion for the creative process, as well as my SANITY. Adjusting to staying at home was, at times, a rough transition and I found that focusing my creative energy on some hobbies definitely made me a more sane person, a more complete version of myself and, well, a nicer mom.

2.How and when did you start crafting?
I’ve always crafted. When I was young, I was a tomboy, but still enjoyed drawing, modeling clay, and playing with the lumps of bread dough my mom gave me. That drive to create has always been alive in me, in many different forms, from writing to theatre. I didn’t start crafting with so much passion and abandon until about a year and a half ago, though. Now it’s practically a way of life.

3.How often do you craft?
Everyday. Even if it’s just a little something. I always have about 10 projects going on at once.

4.Where do you get your inspiration?
EVERYWHERE! Of course I use the internet a lot – checking out blogs and other favorite etsy shops and brand names. I didn’t realize that the internet was literally BURSTING at the seams with creative blogs, and that was a fun discovery for me. I’m always bookmarking things to try. I also get inspiration from my family – especially my kiddos, or just from wandering around aisles aimlessly. Sometimes all it takes is viewing a random object at just the right moment to get the sparks flying. I’m also very inspired by nature.

5.What is your favorite medium to work in?
Well, that’s a hard one. I absolutely adore mod podge and paper, but lately I’ve been gaining momentum in the fabric area. I am generally a much more CRAFTY person than SEWY person, but I’m starting to really love fabrics of all kinds – especially knits. And, I know this isn’t technically a medium, per se, but my husband has a bad habit of calling me “The Wreath Lady” which makes me think of some 80 old woman smelling of moth balls as she pokes hideously fake flowers into straw forms. But I do love wreaths. I can’t explain why.

6.What is your guilty pleasure?
Chocolate. Does that even count? I mean, isn’t that everyone’s? Baked goods of all kinds. Especially cake. And Donuts. And muffins. Yep. I’ve got a problem.

7.What makes you smile?
bug and mini, my little kiddos. Gosh, those two are hilarious! There can’t be anything funnier than a 3 year old going on 30 and a 1 year old who’s already a drama queen. Also, when my husband cleans the kitchen. Which is pretty much all the time. I love that man.

8.What is your favorite thing to do (other than crafting)?
I love to write! Which is the main reason I combined the two and started a blog! I also love to read (all genres, but especially sci-fi/fantasy/mystery/suspense-type stuff). I love theatre and have a long-range plan to get back into when the kids are older.
