1.Tell us a little about you and your blog.
Hi! I’m Ginger from Gingerly Made where I write about crafting, food, and family. My blog actually started as a ‘green’ momma blog. Hubs and I have big plans to move out of the suburbs and into the country. In the meantime we do a lot of gardening and try live sustainably. Then it naturally developed into the craft blog it is now because I’m constantly creating something. I’ve always loved being involved in one (or two or three) projects at a time. I sort-a forgot that about myself for awhile when I was working in the corporate world. And then I had children and became a stay-at-home mom. Crafting gives me and my daughter things to do together. I love crafting with her and get a kick out of her begging for crafts to do.
2.How and when did you start crafting?
I’m not even sure when I started crafting. It just seems like something I’ve always done. I think it may have started with art first though. I know my art teacher sent a letter home to my parents in 5th grade saying that I had talent. And I know I know I learned how to crochet in high school. My mom tried to teach me to sew, but like most teenagers, I wasn’t really interested. Boy oh boy do I wish I had given that more thought now! Now I’m teaching myself to sew. It’s slow going, but I’m getting there and really having a lot of fun sewing for my family.
3.How often do you craft?
It depends on when I have time. With girls ages 3 and 1 in the house life gets a bit hectic. I sometimes craft with them and sometimes during nap time. But I try to have two finished crafts a week for my blog.
4.Where do you get your inspiration?
Everywhere! I learn so much from other bloggers and often pull up some of my favorites for tutorials. And Pinterest, but well, duh. I’m even starting to stop while shopping and check out products not because I want to buy them, but because I want to figure out how to make them.
5.What is your favorite medium to work in?
I don’t stick to any one thing for too long. I get bored if I do. So I’ll switch it up sewing, crocheting, painting, etc.
6.What is your guilty pleasure?
Ice cream! Need I say more.
7.What makes you smile?
My family. They also make me pull my hair out some days, but that’s what family is for, right. Really though, I am so blessed that God put my husband in my life. He is an amazing man and I can’t imagine life without him. And then there are my girls. Those two little girls have my heart strings wrapped around their fingers. I am so fortunate to be able to stay at home with them and soak up this special time with them.
8.What is your favorite thing to do (other than crafting)?
