Interview with Brittany at BK’s Craft Blog

1.Tell us a little about you and your blog.

My name is Brittany and I host BK’s Craft Blog. A few friends suggested
I start a craft blog to link all the cool crafts I found and then
showcase the work I was doing. I work in the costume departments of
live theatres, which means I get to spend my days and nights
surrounded by creative and encouraging people. My job allows me the
flexibility to move around the country and try out all kinds of

2.How and when did you start crafting?

My super crafty mom, Vicky, taught me how to sew so early that I don’t
even remember her teaching me. I have just always known how to plug
in the low temp glue gun and use a serger. After that its just
starts to snow ball with pony beads and pop sickle sticks and here we

3.How often do you craft?

I craft all the time, at least a few days a week. Its just part of how
I unwind and express myself. Plus it gives me something to do during
the evenings while giving my fella a little down time.

4.Where do you get your inspiration?

I hit up other blogs and pinterest. I do copycat patterns of what I
like in fashion magazines. But I also try to use crafting to fill a
need. I was given a bar of soap I was never going to use so I found a
way to turn it into liquid soap. I go looking for a need.

5.What is your favorite medium to work in?

Probably working with fabric. I can hot glue or sew it. It is so flexible.

6.What is your guilty pleasure?

Nineties music. My boyfriend always pokes fun when we go to the record
exchange and I come out with an arm full of dollar cds from the 1990s
(The Cardigan’s First Band on the Moon or The Wallflowers’
Bringing Down the Horse are favorites of mine)

7.What makes you smile?

A good dance song like NEEDTOBREATH’s Something Beautiful or
Katy Perry’s Teenage Dream. And watching YouTube videos of
people falling down. Oh, and sunny days! And dogs…

8.What is your favorite thing to do (other than crafting)?

Thrifting, blowing bubbles, going for walks, and seizing the day!
