1. Tell us a little about you and your blog.
Currently, I am the Chief-Operating-Officer for high-stress company…
my family. I left my previous position, as a school teacher, for an
equally hard job. I am a stay-at-home mom. I spend most of my days
attempting keeping up with my two rambunctious kids and a baby, which usually
involves running around, cleaning cooking, playing ‘mommy-monster’ &
toy-bartering. When I’m not practicing my negotiating skills with my
preschooler, I enjoy outdoor excursions and laughing with my husband. In
my ‘extra time,’ I love to craft, read, write and watch a good game
(especially if it involves the BYU Cougars, St. Louis Cardinals or
Kansas City Chiefs–I know it’s a long shot on that last one). I’ve
noticed that each of my hobbies brings me peace (and some sanity). If
I’m lucky, I’ll have just enough time to clean the house. Let’s face it,
I hardly get that lucky.
My little sister and I started Mule ‘n Nag back in 2009 as a way to keep
track of all the crafty things we do. It hasn’t grow a lot because she
had to focus on graduating from college and I grew a couple human
beings. The blog name comes from the movie, A League of Their Own; we are pretty much those two sisters.
2. How and when did you start crafting?
I started crafting when I was in high school after years of watching my mom (and Granni) make beautiful
creations. The first real big project I did was sewing five pairs of shorts for Girl’s Summer Camp. It was
so exciting to me to be able to use something I made. Crafting (outside of school projects) was put on hold
until I graduated from college. I picked it up again after my oldest son was born because I wanted to make his
Halloween costume. He was a knight; everything turned out okay, including his way too small helmet.
3. How often do you craft?
My current dilemma. I try to craft a little bit each week. ‘Crafting’ meaning either creating new
things or keeping up with our family blog. I have three pint-sized excuses (and their father) all vying for my time–
– and if it comes down to it… I’ll pick my family… anyone have the magic key to balancing?… Seriously?
4. Where do you get your inspiration?
Other fantastic blogs, Pinterest, my Mom *shout out*, my friends. Basically, I don’t create unless I feel it will be
useful or appreciated by the person I’m making it for. I really get the bug when I come up with my own ideas…
5. What is your favorite medium to work in?
Ohhh… what a tough question. A couple Christmases ago, I got a Silhouette SD and I love figuring out
different ways to use it. I love wood, creating digital designs and I think felt is sometimes underappreciated.
6. What is your guilty pleasure?
Anyone ever hear of an old 80s cartoon called Jem & the Holograms? I LOVED it as a kid and,
thanks to streaming services, I can watch it all over again. My other guilty pleasure is the classic 80s movie
Masters of the Universe; I’m a closet sci-fi/comic book nerd and rather big sports fan. Any kind of marathon
involving sporting events, the above mentioned shows, Titanic, most Disney movies, BBC Pride & Prejudice,
complete with a bowl of Lindt Milk Chocolate Truffles and Reese’s Peanut Butter cups for the treats, and you will not see
me until it’s over.
7. What makes you smile?
My family and good music. Hands down. Or finding a St. Louis Cardinals game on TV.
8. What is your favorite thing to do (other than crafting)?
Doing anything with my family… even it’s nothing.
