Season’s greetings to everyone!  I‘m so happy to be guest posting here at So You Think You‘re Crafty today!  Thank you Missy for this opportunity to share my passion for crafting with your readers.

 I’m Danni and my blog is Silo Hill Farm.  I‘m lucky enough to be living on a beautiful farm.   I love to make my own decor using inexpensive supplies.  Many of my projects are upcycled so it’s likely you’ll have most of what you need on hand to recreate them yourself. 

 Although I’m sharing how I made this little wreath today…

…..I also want to share a money saving tip on using floral picks.  It’s no secret that I LOVE floral picks.  In fact, when they were on sale I bought a bunch of them and made this little ceramic pitcher sparkle.

 But you don’t have to wait for floral picks to go on sale to get nice ones.  I picked up some Christmas greenery bushes at the Dollar Tree to use on my wreath for, you guessed it, one dollar.  They weren’t very pretty.  In fact, they were kind of skimpy.

 However, they had potential.  I pulled everything off of the wire stem and this is what I had.  Three sets of both of these.

 By mixing the pieces up and putting them back together in a way that looked more pleasing, I ended up with these.

A little better don’t you think?  Now you could put them all back on just a few of the stems and you would have a much better, fuller looking little floral bush, for the same money.   I was really looking for just the pine cones and a little greenery for this wreath.  (Come visit my blog next week if you want to know what I did with the wispy holly berry ones.)  

I have a basic burlap wreath that I have used four different times already.  (I might love wreaths as much as I love floral picks!)

Silo Hill Farm Wreaths

 It was so easy to make and as you can see, it has held up really well!  The base was easy to make.  I just pinned strips of burlap around a styrofoam wreath form.

 Every thing you see in the wreaths above was just pinned on to the burlap base with either straight pins or U-shaped floral pins.  Pretty easy right?  Everything comes off just as easily when you’re ready to change it out for a new season.   

Using the pine cones that I made from the Dollar Tree floral bush and a little “Peace” hanging ornament that I had already, I made this Christmas wreath.  The top piece that the wreath is hanging by is actually the top part of the ornament that I just clipped off and pinned on.  

Pretty simple, but the message of peace is an important one, especially during this holiday season.
