Hey Hey Everybody! This week has been so fun, yet a tinsy bit stressful for me. My sister and her family drove in from Cleveland for a few days. We had a blast! However, our only computer (that we’ve had to take in to be fixed 2 already this year) won’t start again. Since we had family here we weren’t able to get it in to be fixed (tinsy stressful part). Right now I’m bumming off my fantastic neighbors (thanks Cari & Jeff!) to get this post up. I wanted to make sure you get the full week of voting, but I’ll be waiting until tomorrow evening (after we have our super shiny new computer home – finally) to put up the results and let you know the 10 ladies that will be competing next season.
So, the finale is down to Randi from Dukes & Duchesses and Ashley from Cherished Bliss. They’ve done some awesome stuff for this challenge. Voting will be open until Friday night so vote and tell everybody else to come vote too!
Craft #1 – Pintuck Comforter & Bed Tray by Ashley @ Cherished Bliss
Wow. I am so excited that I am in the finals of So You Think You’re Crafty. I Honestly didn’t think I would get past round 3! So I am beyond giddy! It was a bit of a tough week for me but I am so excited to show you what I made (by some miracle and the fact that my husband is wonderful and watched the kids while I pintucked away! — Thank you sweetheart) I have to say I have desperately wanted to do a makeover on my bedroom for a while now but there isn’t really much you can do with the color on my walls so I tried to make something that I could use now, and whenever I get my pick of everything! : )
pintuck comforter and bed tray
You might recognize my pillows from the knock off week : ) They were my inspiration for my bed! That and our house is on the market and I really needed a prettier bed. And well, I just love pintucking and how it looks!
The pintucking…. : )
So while I was “staging” my bedroom I decided I wanted a bed tray on my bed. They just make me want to wake up and drink coffee!
I got this tray at Hobby Lobby for $4! It had some ugly writing stuff on it so I painted over it with white and weaved burlap on the bottom. Have I mentioned that I LOVE burlap?! I want to put it all over my house! : )
I’m so excited to be in the final week of the competition … it’s been a lot of fun!
For the Wild Card week, I decided to make something that’s been on my project list for a while. I love memories captured in shadowboxes and I decided to make a shadowbox that captures my early days with my husband.
To begin, I scraped out the {nasty} insides of a shadowbox from the Wisteria Outlet. I love the chunky, black distressed frame. I was going for a vintage look with this shadowbox so I backed the box with wrinkled linen.
I photocopied parts of old love letters we wrote early in our relationship, tore the edges, wrinkled them up, and tea stained them to give them an old look.
A black and white photo of the two of us {long ago} sits in the middle of the letters. I wrapped a bit of twine around the photo to add some texture.
In the bottom corner, I added “p&r” {our initials} in frosted vinyl. It’s subtle but adds a fun touch.
I really love the outcome of this shadowbox and I love that this project captures such great memories for me.
Hi! I'm Missy and I'll be your host. “So You Think You’re Crafty” is a head-to-head crafting competition - the first “reality” blog. Every 10 weeks a new group of crafters is selected. Each week the crafters are given a theme and YOU vote for your favorite.
The "I'm Crafty" linky party is where you can link up any project you’ve made because I know you all don’t just think you’re crafty, you are crafty! It doesn’t even have to be a new project or be based on the theme (although that would be super cool). Just join the fun and spread the love!
