1.Tell us a little about you and your blog.

I’m Melissa and I’m a SAHM to my 2 little girls. I started Sew Like My Mom last June to share my sewing projects with family and friends, and to keep a journal of sorts of the things I’ve made.

2.How and when did you start crafting?

I always crafted as a kid and enjoyed making things whenever possible. My Mom was great about having us actively participate in crafts for holidays and let us go all out for school projects. I started sewing in high school, but only dabbling. I branched out a little in college, but have really come into sewing and crafting the way I do now in the last 3 years.

3.How often do you craft?

Usually every day! It’s a rare day that I don’t sit down to my machine, get together supplies for a project, or spend hours tracing appliqués on Heat n Bond.

4.Where do you get your inspiration?

I get inspiration from everywhere! At first I was only able to copy other people’s ideas, but the more I stretch my imagination, the more I’m able to put my own twist on things I see. My girls inspire me a lot, too, because I’m always thinking of things they need or could use.

5.What is your favorite medium to work in?

Fabric. I love to sew and to stretch myself to learn new sewing techniques. I’m quickly learning to love paper, paint and many other mediums, though!

6.What is your guilty pleasure?

TV and Cherry Coke! When I have a free evening I love to snuggle under a blanket and get caught up on my DVR.

7.What makes you smile?

My girls. They are more amazing than I ever could have imagined!! Also the support of my husband makes me really happy. He’s an incredible man and I’m blessed to have all 3 of them in my life!

8.What is your favorite thing to do (other than crafting)?

Spending time with my family. My husband’s job is pretty demanding so we don’t have a lot of family time. It makes me treasure each moment we do get together!
