Interview with Becky @ Corduroy’s Closet

by Missy on February 23, 2011

1.Tell us a little about you and your blog.

My blog started when I started making things to sell. It was named after my oldest daughter, Corduroy. I wanted cool clothes for her, skate/surf onesies and couldn’t find them so I made them. Apparently they only make those kinds of things for boys. It has evolved from items that can be bought to anything I make. I love taking pictures and this blog has been a fun place to showcase not only my crafts but my photos. Some good and some bad.

2.How and when did you start crafting?

I have been crafting for as long as I can remember. I grew up with my mom’s sewing machine sharing my bedroom and it has always just been a part of me. I just came across an old Ms. Pac-man t-shirt I colored for a birthday party I planned when I was just a wee lad. I had totally forgotten about that. I remember we had wood circles cut out like little pac-mans and I colored all of them to hand out at the party.

3.How often do you craft?

I have to do something everyday. I try to split my time between making things just by myself and then some with the kids, otherwise they go hungry.

4.Where do you get your inspiration?

Inspiration hits me like a ton of bricks. I should say, good inspiration hits me like a ton of bricks. Cause sometimes it’s bad. Do you ever make something and just think, “Oh, man, that is awful! Take it back!” But when that good inspiration hits, I can’t think about anything else until the project is complete.

5.What is your favorite medium to work in?

Fabric!

6.What is your guilty pleasure?

Dr. Pepper. And Brownies!

7.What makes you smile?

Dancing kids.

8.What is your favorite thing to do (other than crafting)?

Taking pictures. Preferably somewhere exotic.
